How to continue your job search during a vacation
Be honest with your family and set expectations. It's not easy to sneak in computer time behind your family's back. You're on vacation to take a break, not feel more stress. So before you start packing, tell your family that you'll need to spend some time on your job search while you're away.
Schedule your search time. If you've planned out your vacation you can plan when you'll work on your job search. Don't miss out on fun excursions, meals, or family time. Instead, try to focus on your job search during periods of downtime (for example, when everyone is showering and changing, napping, or between activities). Don't talk about it too much. Don't spend the entire trip talking about your job search! Even if your family asks questions about it, try to avoid focusing every conversation on it.
Conduct your search from a quiet place. When you're editing your resume, submitting your applications, or sending emails to hiring managers, you'll want to be in a quiet, distraction-free place. Use the hotel's business center or work from your hotel room (where everyone is napping or out of the room). Don't let it stress you or your family out. As much as you can help it, don't let the stress of job searching overwhelm you too much while you're on your family vacation.
